Is it weird to wear DJ Headphones out in the public?

I im 16 and live in newyork and i noticed everyone started buying the beats by dr dre dj headphones and wearing them outside. I never wore dj headphones outside before because i thought id look like an idiot but do you think its okay? should i be embarred to wear my skull candy GI headphones outside like on my way to school
