What are we going to do about our national debt?

Our national debt is now over $10 trillion and it is projected to double in the next 10 years! If nothing is ped on health care it will take years to revisit and health care is our biggest government expense. Is this how America falls? If we can't do something about health care will balancing the budget and raising taxes get it done? I hear that we would have to double our yearly federal tax to 40% to pay down the debt. Is this even do-able. I don't think any of our politicians will raise taxes even though it is needed. I think they may value their own jobs over the nations well being. That goes for both parties. Please, no partisan BS. Thanks.
