Can putting cello rosin on a b bow mess the bow up?

I put cello rosin on my b bow that wasn't making any sound and now my bow still doesn't make any sound even though I've put a lot of rosin on it. Is it because it's rosin for a different instrument? If not, why is it not making any sound? Thanks!
