He misunderstood my email- just freinds now in jeopardy- help!?

I am starting to get to know this guy and we decided to work on building a frinedship- not get right into dating. This week I sent him an email that teased him and his ego (and I thought I was being flirty) for some comments he had made about me leaving a tent at home on a trip to share one with him. I attached an email from a friend that had said she was going to return my tent when she came to visit me. I thought this was a cute way to tease hm and prove him wrong. He sent me back an email that said he didnt know the point of my email and he thought it was weird and he didnt know who wrote it. I think he may think that he got accidentally copied on it and me and my friends were writing stuff about him. I sent him an email explaining I was only joking and everything I wrote here. We are going through a weird time b/c we met and liked each other but decided to just be friends and now I feel the friendship- so new.. is in serious jeopardy. Help! What do do?
